But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.

guilty pleasures....

I will be the first to admit that a lot of things that I love are embarrassing. I know that certain TV shows, bands, and books that i immensely enjoy are crazy bad, but I like them anyways. However, I don't recommend something that I may love, but know is terrible, and the people who do drive me absolutely mad. Am I weirdly addicted to The Secret Life of the American Teenager? Yes. Do I understand this addiction? Not in the slightest. Would I ever in a million years even think about recommending this ridiculous show to anyone living on planet earth? Heavens NO. I understand that this show/(every other embarrassing thing that I adore) are not good, therefore I would never try to convince anyone otherwise. The people that think that everything they love is the definition of quality, and shout their recommendations from the rooftops, never once stopping to think "is this thing i love actually a worthy part of pop culture?" or do I love it in lieu of the fact that its crap?" absolutely drive me mad.

For example, I have many issues with this whole Glee movement. The plots are ridiculous, the acting is sub par, and what they pass off as "music" is atrocious. Those things alone however is not what annoys me the the most about the show. The most irritating thing about Glee (perhaps with the exception of Lea Michele's nails on a chalkboard voice) are the Gleetards fans. They are trying to convince the world that the show is ACTUALLY good. They will swear up and down til the cows come home that the writing is original and groundbreaking, the acting is Oscar worthy, and John Lennon's Imagine  pales in comparison to the cast of Glee's heart strings pulling, and tears jerking rendition. The truth of the matter is, Glee is not a good show (it's not even an alright show), it's a GUILTY PLEASURE. I would have far less of a problem with this whole Glee thing if the fans acknowledged that the show was terrible but they loved it in spite of its grotesqueness.

Come on society perk up your ears as I offer this sound piece of advice, lets start recognizing the difference between liking something because it is actually good, and liking something despite the fact that it is terrible.

When she woke in the morning
she knew that her life had passed her by.
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by."

I suggest we learn to love ourselves before it's made illegal.
When will we learn? When will we change?
Just in time to see it all fall down.
Those left standing... will make millions...
writing books on the way it should have been.

When she woke in the morning
she knew that her life had passed her by.
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by."

soooo...

television is bbbaaaaccckkkk.

i know....i can can hear the collective sighs of relief happening all across the country also.

With a fresh batch of new episodes of our favorite shows upon us, i suppose i can mention that i am also really enjoying the weather getting slightly (well it is southern california after all) cooler. Colder weather is definitely welcome...i had my fun swimming and tanning and beaching this summer, but all good things come to an end. and with the end of carefree summer days, come the beginning of fires in fireplaces, hot chocolate, and of course HOLIDAYS (but i'm getting ahead of myself).

so i bid you adieu sweet summer...it's been fun.
